SUVs: Race our Boot at the 2019 Baja 1000 in a stock SUV class
Sports Cars: Race our 004 GT3 and GT4s at the 2020 24 Hours of Nurburgring
Hypercars: Race our 007 Hypercar at the 2020/21 WEC and Le Mans
If you could build anything in the world, what would it be?
A sports car you can drive to the Nürburgring and race for 24 hours?
A car built in America to win Le Mans?
An SUV to race the Baja 1000 and then drive home?
We are building them all. And then we are building road-legal versions
Nürburgring
Since 2011 we have 8 seasons of endurance racing, 8 24-Hour finishes, 3 First in Class, 1 Second in Class, 1 Third in Class, and we took the Pole in 2017.
We will return for one final season with our SPX 003C in 2019.
In 2020 we will race at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring with our 004 GT3 and our 004 GT4 teams.
Our factory 003C is testing today and committed to race in 2019 VLN1, the 6 Hour Qualifying, and the 24 Hours of Nürburgring;
We are building, homologating, and testing factory 004C GT3s and 004C GT4s to race at the Nürburgring starting in 2020;
004 GT3: 500,000 USD with running costs significantly lower than comparable cars;
004 GT4: 250,000 USD with running costs significantly lower than comparable cars.
“Many companies say they build ‘sports cars.’ I’m not sure what they mean. We build a car that you could drive to the Nürburgring, run a 6:33 lap, and drive home. We drove our 003S road car to Monticello Motorclub, ran 100 hot laps with a professional race car driver over the weekend, and then drove home. To me, that’s a true sports car.” - Jesse Glickenhaus, Managing Director
“Last year we were running third overall for 13 hours until the rain. With our new Michelin tires, which are the best rain tires, we have a real chance at First Overall at the 2019 24 Hours of Nürburgring.” - Jim Glickenhaus, Founder
Le Mans
We have been dreaming of racing Le Mans in a car made in the United States of America ever since Henry Ford was the last American team to win First Overall in 1967.
We were the first and, thus far, only manufacturer to commit to racing the WEC 2020/21 Season in the new top Hypercar class in the summer of 2018.
Since the WEC finalized the rules on December 5 2018, we have been working with passion.
We have taken 8 seasons of endurance racing experience, over 50,000km of endurance racing driving, and terabytes of data as a baseline to design and engineer our 007 Le Mans Hypercar.
Since the rules were finalized, we have:
Completed first work phase of budget, timeline, and detailed study of the rules;
Completed over 3,500 hours of engineering on the 007 chassis;
Completed over 7,000 hours of engineering on the 007 suspension;
Continued working with Luca Ciancetti of Podium Technology - the same team that we have been working with since we developed a hybrid KERS system for P4/5 Competizione in 2011 - to design our own LMP1 hybrid system. Our work together led us to an FIA World Champion Cup in Alternative Energies. As per the WEC rules, we will offer our new hybrid system to other hypercar teams;
Began engineering studies for engine and hybrid systems;
Committed to build no more than 30 Le Mans Road-Legal Hypercars offered at 1,955,000 USD each. 100% of the profits from these vehicles will go to fund the Le Mans/Racing program. These cars will have 800 HP engine + a 200 HP hybrid system similar to the system we use on our LMP1 car.
“A car made in America hasn’t won First Overall at Le Mans since the Ford MKIV in 1967. We think it’s time an American team wins again.” Jim Glickenhaus, Founder
“I don’t know what other companies mean when they release so-called ‘hypercars’. Our 007 will have a chassis that is FIA crash tested to LMP1 standards, suspension designed to race the WEC and Le Mans, and a similar combine HP as our LMP1 hypercar. Each 007 Founder will be invited to join our weekly engineering video conferences, our testing, and of course all of our 2020/21 races.” Jesse Glickenhaus, Managing Director
The Baja 1000
At 1000 miles, the Baja 1000 is the longest continuous off-road race in the world.
In 1967 Vin Hickey purpose built the GM-powered Baja Boot to compete in the inaugural Baja 1000 race, and it was raced by Steve McQueen and Bud Edkins.
We purchased the Boot in 2010 and imagined racing a new version.
In January 2018 we asked our designer Michael Young to imagine a new Baja Boot that was capable of racing the Baja 1000 in stock form, and then driving home. To bring this incredible challenge to life we turned to professional off-road racer and expert Darren Skilton to manage the project and racing program and builder Elliot Pollock and Armada Engineering to execute the build.
We will be racing our new Glickenhaus Boot in the 52nd Annual SCORE Baja 1000 in November 2019. We have:
Fully-engineered a new Boot to be able pre-run the Baja 1000 in stock form, or race the Baja 1000 with the Baja package;
The stock Boot, which will be able to pre-run the Baja 1000 will have:
Four-wheel independent suspension with 19” of travel;
Fox Coil over 3” internal bypass;
GM LT4 650HP Engine;
Wheelbase 116’’, Width 84’’ height 6’7’’ with 40-inch tires;
Method 17’’ Race Wheels Mounted with 37” BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A K02 tires;
Optional 40’’ tires;
Brakes: Wilwood Dynapro Calipers w/ 12” Rotors;
Range: 400-mile highway and 200–300 mile off-road;
Soft top with optional removable hardtop.
The Baja package, which will allow the Boot to Race the Baja 1000 includes the following upgrades:
Width 88’’ with race suspension;
Suspension: High strength boxed lower control arms;
Suspension Travel: 22”;
Dual Shocks: 2.5 Coilover front and rear, 3.5 Bypass front and 4.0 Bypass rear;
Brakes: Race Grade Wilwood Aero6 Calipers w/ 14” Rotors;
Method Race Wheels with BFGoodrich Baja T/A KR2 37” tires;
Transmission: Gearworks Turbo 400 w/ Reid Case;
Additional fuel for range for long distance races;
Full Race GPS, communication systems, air filters and forced air for helmets using magnetic locking for air and water hoses.
Began manufacture of our 2019 Boots including hand-welding the first prototype chassis, suspensions, and bulkheads, and officially ordering the GM LT4 engines and transmissions;
Committed to race the 52nd Annual SCORE Baja 1000 with our Glickenhaus Baja Boot;
Created an exclusive luxury tour for 14 guests to luxury tour the 2019 Baja 1000, pre-run a section of the course, and to watch the course with our team, including via a helicopter race tour;
Created for Founders a 2-day off-road driving school taught by experienced Baja 1000 racers on a 40-mile private off-road course in Ensenada.
After selling out of our 2019 Founders 2-door Boots in 2020 we will be releasing a wider footprint four-seat version of the Boot, which will include many creature comforts and performance options to allow clients to custom tailor their options.

Armada Engineering has become a household name in the international off-road racing community by manufacturing some of the most innovative and highly capable off-road racecars in the industry.
“For me the Glickenhaus Boot is an inspirational project. It is an opportunity to pay homage to the legendary designer Vic Hickey with a modern high-performance vehicle based off his vision. My hope is to honor where the sport of off road has come from with something that inspires a new generation of enthusiasts” Darren Skilton, Glickenhaus Boot Project Manager
“This November we are going to drive our Glickenhaus Baja Boot from San Diego to Ensenada, race the Baja 1000, and drive home. What’s not to like?” Jim Glickenhaus, Founder
“We welcome any manufacture that makes an SUV to race our new Boot in the 2019 Baja 1000 in a stock SUV class. The Baja 1000 has a stock VW Bug class, a stock truck class, and soon, a stock SUV class.” Jesse Glickenhaus, Managing Director
“I didn’t even know who’d won the race. Maybe nobody.” Hunter S. Thompson
