Boot on the Road: From Connecticut to Mexico
Pinar O.
Something crazy is happening over here! Another crazy project from Team Glickenhaus. Are you ready to hear this? Our team is driving the Boot from our Danbury Factory to Baja! Thousands of miles. An unbelievable adventure. We can't wait to share everything with you.
We are going to Baja with our Road Boot!
Those words were what we announced a week before Baja 1000, 2021. One night, Bora told me, "Tell Jesse I want to drive the Boot to Baja" I replied, "No, I want to do that, you stay home if somebody is going to do that, it will be me" And we laughed! My kids were sure I could not drive the Boot because I was not strong enough.
After two weeks, Jesse called me suddenly and said, "Pinar, I have a crazy idea!" When you hear this from him, you should know that something really crazy is coming; get ready for it. Because he is incredibly creative and his mind is full of brilliant ideas, I guess he needs a day like 40 hours minimum. Because 24 hours are never enough for him. Which is very impressive to me! So I think our minds were syncing for some reason, and we were here. We were really going to drive the Road Boot to Mexico. It wasn't a joke or a dream anymore!
And that day, November 10th, four people, I, Bora, Emre, UConn Media & Journalism Student, and excellent Jonathan Walker, a fantastic photo artist who will document the journey.
As a former journalist, I am currently the Director of Communication & Media of Glickenhaus (What makes me so proud indeed!) And, of course, my husband never leaves me alone and supports me endlessly.
We headed out for the crazy project. Our hearts were pumping like so strong. Because this was what we were about to do, something once in a lifetime. Route 66 was on our bucket list already. And we were suddenly planning for it. Even the idea made us up all night; we were waking up each other and taking notes.
So we decided to take it to relax.
We were going to see what was waiting for us!
We were going to experience that how substantial the Road Boot is?
The road will be more than 3000 Miles. And we have a Tesla as a second car with an incredible plate I-RESIST!
When you drive a vehicle with a title like Jesse's, you should listen non-stop Hamilton Soundtrack. Which was my secret plan. And sure I did!
We met at the factory in the early morning, did all of the last-minute things and a bunch of paperwork because we do everything how it must be. Hugged each other, got unbelievable positive energy from the team in Danbury, and headed to the road.
What we do is something not you can see easily. It means trust, bravery, imagination, and creativity.
The Boot is my favorite Glickenhaus vehicle. To me, it is a dream car. People can think it is masculine, but no. I am sure dear Viry Felix, our one and only Women Pilot, will confirm that as well. The Road Boot is so classy!
Extremely cool! And stunning!
We will publish the full stories daily!
Kind Regards,
