Ferrari 296 GTB vs Glickenhaus 004S/CS

Pinar O.

Dan Neil reviews the Ferrari 296 GTB Plug-in Hybrid in today's WSJ.

It's well worth reading.

"Because the car is a plug-in hybrid, the 296 GTB can maintain (819 HP) for only two laps, in what Ferrari calls Qualify mode. After that, the output falls by about 40 HP to 779 HP. Alas, the car's weight (about 3700 pounds) stays the same... Easy to look at but hard to fall in love with."

Our 004S/CS's can run at maximum output on a track through their entire tank of fuel.

They weigh substantially lighter, and our S comes with a manual gated shifter if desired.

Our 004S/CS is a modern F 40.

The 296 GTB Plug-in Hybrid is something a bit different.

If you're considering a 296, I suggest you test drive an 004.

Cheers!
