Boot on the Road: Connecticut to Mexico (Day 4)
Pinar O.
🚩 Day 4
The destination is Texas Amarillo! We left Springfield, Missouri, and, after the first stop for a photoshoot, went to Tulsa, Oklahoma. We will take a break in Oklahoma City and enter the gasoline and beef smelled lands of Texas. It's a fabulous Saturday.
Today we had a legendary day on the famous Route 66. We closed the road and did a photo shoot at a favorite spot for movies. We met a completely different and uncommon personality. A family that has run a gas station in the same place for generations. He is the boss of Route 66. A gentleman who sits and waits for people to visit. A family that must be the subject of documentaries, books, or interviews. America is a gem! There are stories everywhere. And to me, every person is very unique, and each of us has lots of stories to share. Who knows what kind of things happened here? Even thinking about it gives you goosebumps.
Having the Boot here, in this incredible place, and how we felt was a rare occasion. It is not enough to thank them enough for opening the security gates they made to protect themselves against the coyotes. Allowing us to get Boot into this unbelievable spot, blocking the road for our photo-shooting, and even helping us.
We left Bora's jacket and hat to display in this historic place. Boot gave the most astonishing poses on Route 66 today. We proudly finished the day!
What an adventure!
We are Glickenhaus!
We can do hard things!
That's what I feel today.
And I did what I promised Jim. On Route 66, I thanked Steve McQueen by looking up at the sky and saying, “Thank you so much for the inspiration you gave us, greetings from Jim.”
